Don't miss a scenic and memorable train ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway through the North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains along the picturesque Toccoa River from Blue Ridge, Georgia to Copperhill, Tennessee. The train runs March through December for spectacular views through the beautiful North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains and the Tennessee Mountains. In the summer season, the train ride can be combined with Ocoee River rafting. Riding the train in the spring, you will be treated to a glorious glimpse of Appalachian Spring in all its glorious array with dogwoods and redbuds in full bloom. In fall, the blazing patchwork of blazing colors is dazzling. In December, ride the Christmas Express Train on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway to celebrate the holidays Polar Express style.

Boating, Tubing, Swimming, and Canoeing
Lake Blue Ridge and Carters Lake are popular locations for various water sports. Your family will enjoy the open waters. Boat rentals are available. Tubing, canoeing and kayaking are all fun water activities on the Cartecay River right in front o your Ellijay Georgia cabin rental. Just over the Tennessee state line, whitewater activities on the Ocoee River offer thrills and excitement.
Hiking, Biking, Horseback Riding
Miles of trails are located in the Cohutta Wilderness, the Chattahoochee National Forest and the area surounding, Ellijay, Blue Ridge and Dahloenga. Your family will have many exciting hours exploring the beautiful North Georgia Mountains with scenic vistas and numerous waterfalls. Many stables are located nearby for opportunities for trail rides through the North Georgia Mountains.
Lake and Stream Fishing

"Ron Henry-Horseshoe Bend RIver Park" sits on a stretch of the Toccoa River, 10 miles from Blue Ridge, Georgia just 1.5 miles upstream of McCaysville on River Road which is off of Hwy 60. Free admission.
Enjoy live acoustic music, a weekly jam session of local talent, including traditional Appalachian, Bluegrass, Blues and Jazz music in a riverside outdoor setting on the Toccoa River.

Apple Orchards
Although Georgia is called the Peach State, you can't convince the old timers in Ellijay that it isn't the Apple State. Instead of being peachy, everything here is rosy as an apple! Be sure to visit the Blue Ridge Georgia Mountains for the numerous apple orchards and farmstands. Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge is an all time favorite year round all time farmstand. the feature fired peis, donuts, fritters, apple and fruit pies, breads, cider, apple butter. Another favorite apple farmstand stop is Panorama for some of their famous fried apple pies topped with ice-cream. Plan to spend a day drinking cider and picking your own apples at one of the Ellijay local orchards.
